Therese Litsin is a Swedish Civil Engineer in Industrial Management, educated at Lund University, with more than 20 years of experience spanning industrial operations, procurement, healthcare leadership, and global materials strategy. She began her career in the container handling industry, specializing in life cycle cost analysis and business optimization. In 2009, she joined IKEA, where she held several key leadership roles across strategic sourcing and material categories. Her responsibilities included purchasing management for paper, solid wood, and flatline products, developing extensive experience in global supply chains, material markets, and sustainable sourcing. Following her first period at IKEA, Therese served as a director within the healthcare sector, leading several departments during covid at her hometown hospital. This experience further strengthened her leadership capabilities, organizational development skills, and stakeholder management expertise. In 2022, she rejoined IKEA and took on global leadership roles focused on material-related business transformation and strategic development. As Global Project Lead for material-related initiatives, she drove cross-functional projects supporting the company's sustainability and business objectives. Today, she serves as Raw Material Leader for Plastics and Chemicals, where she is responsible for developing long-term raw material strategies that ensure plastics are sustainable, responsible, resilient, and cost-efficient. Therese works at the intersection of brand commitments, circularity, raw material strategy, recycling value chains, and supplier collaboration. Her focus is on how large global brands can accelerate demand for recycled materials and create the market conditions needed for a scalable and commercially viable circular plastics economy.
